SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program at the US Air Forces Europe / Air Forces Africa (U-A) Warfare Center (UAWC) in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) standards that support the US Air Force, Department of Defense, and mission partners facilitating all-domain Warfighter training across the full spectrum of conflict.

This role of this position is to provide enterprise level system administration across multiple exercise enclaves enabling UAWC's mission of providing accurate live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) warfighter training.

The Systems Administrator will:

  • Design, plan, build, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain the UAWC's operating system configurations, systems documentation, performance tuning, software deployments, systems hardening, storage architecture, and virtualization infrastructure environments.     
  •  Protect UAWC IT systems through the implementation of ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solutions) and application of DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Install, manage, and monitor Cybersecurity tools to support secure standard implementation of enclave hardware/software resources.
  • Create, maintain, and utilize standard operating procedures and maintenance checklists for IT systems.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external organizations to submit remedy tickets, diagnose the issue, and resolve the issue.
  • Monitor status of projects, prepare milestone status reports, and present status to the UAWC.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • US Citizen and active U.S. Secret security clearance, eligible for Top Secret / SCI
  • A bachelor's degree plus 5 years of recent systems administrator experience, OR relevant years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Possess one of the following current certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or Azure Administrator Associate.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level 2 Certification.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP) networks, including: unicast, broadcast, and multicast network traffic.
  • Systems administrator experience supporting Department of Defense information systems.
  • Proficiency using MS Office, including: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Visio, and Teams.

*Major certifications include: CASP+, CCIE, CCISO, CCSP, CFR, CISM, CISSP, CySA+, CNP, GCED, GCFA, GCIH, GCIG, JNCIE-SEC, Google Professional Cloud Engineer, M365 Enterprise Admin Associate, M365 Modern Desktop Admin Associate, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, RCHA, RHCSA, VMware CP – Data Center

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience deploying and managing Windows Active Directory domains, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Server, and UNIX/Linux client/server operating systems.
  • Experience deploying and managing Windows Server operations and core applications/systems (e.g., ADS, DNS, DHCP, centralized print services, email, and chat programs.)
  • Experience deploying and managing Cisco's Unified Computing System (Hyperflex) environments and associated hardware supporting hyperconverged compute, memory, and storage area network (SAN)
  • Experience deploying and managing VMWare virtual machines, including current versions of VMware vSphere, Windows Server Hyper-V, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Trusted-Thin Client architecture.
  • Experience with SolarWinds
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation distribution architectures and protocols, including Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High Level Architecture (HLA).
  • Ability to create scripts in Perl, Python, and similar languages.

Expected Salary Range - Highly dependent on candidate qualifications.

 $90,000-$135,000

 Additional Benefits - Dependent on personal eligibility and/or meeting length of employment requirements
