SAIC is searching for a Systems Administrator to support one of the foundational networks in the Joint Expeditionary Command and Control (JEXC2) family of systems.JEXC2 systems are made up of various command, control, communications, computers and intelligence subsystems and networks, including associated infrastructure and communications equipment. The program is aimed at supporting the military's bid to achieve a Joint All-Domain Command and Control capability, which is the concept of connecting sensors across all domains, including space and cyberspace, into a single network.

Work will be performed onsite in Panama City Beach, FL. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization technology and demonstrable experience working with VMware products. You will design, configure and support a virtual system where you will maintain its operational state, perform upgrades and implements improvements to the VMware infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • You will design, install, and administer VMware and Hyper V virtualization products including but not limited to:
    • Hypervisor
    • SDN
    • Orchestration
    • Vsphere
    • ESXi
    • VCSA
    • NSX-T
    • vSAN
    • AOS
  • Support and resolve escalated trouble tickets pertaining to VMware customer issues. Must have ability to follow-up with users on tickets with focus on "problem fully solved from user perspective" versus solving the narrow underlying root cause.
  • Performs regular software patching across the VMware virtualized environment. 
  • Maintain the VMware environment to ensure availability, reliability, and performance. This includes the virtual VMware environment as well as the underlying Nutanix and Cisco USC hardware components.
  • Leverage the existing infrastructure in efforts to maintain and monitor the capacity, storage, and backups of the environment and identify opportunities of improvements. Key infrastructure including but not limited to:
    • SAN
    • NAS
    • Ctera
    • Pure
    • QNAP
  • Support test events (SITs) in lab development/sustainment systems including running test suites/test cards, writing/updating/redlining existing test documentation, resolving test event trouble tickets.
  • Ability to answer infrastructure data calls from leadership and assist in program office data calls (capacity, licensing, annual renewals for warranties/licensing)Identify opportunities for automation and implement them.
  • Create and maintain technical procedures, operational guides and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. 

Qualifications

  Qualifications:

  • Bachelor and 2 years of experience is required; a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • An Interim Secret clearance must be obtained or currently active in order to begin work on this program. 
  • Experience with Nutanix products and services.
  • Experience with Cisco UCS products and services preferred.
  • Strong understanding of VMware components such as HA, DRS, server storage VMotion, VRealize,  NSXT, and VMware Horizon View within a virtualized environment.
  • Knowledge in conducting performance analysis for both the ESX host and their guests in the areas of CPU, Memory and I/O utilization.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and backups for virtualization infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PowerShell and Ansible.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Linux experience desirable.
