SAIC is seeking a proven Vulnerability Remediation and Patching Support Technician to join the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Information Technology (IT) Modernization program and support the full range of Enterprise IT services to ARL's research mission. This position is contingent upon contract award expected summer/fall 2025. The work is to be performed at the customer site in Aberdeen, MD.

The Vulnerability Remediation and Patching Support Technician will be responsible for managing patch deployment and vulnerability mitigation in accordance with DoD and ARL IT policies at the Army Research Laboratory in Aberdeen, MD.
- Perform enterprise-wide vulnerability scanning, assessment, and remediation
- Coordinate and execute OS and third-party software patching across Windows, Linux (RHEL), and macOS platforms
- Maintain and apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) compliance baselines to all managed systems
- Document and report on remediation progress, ticket closure, and mitigation activities to cybersecurity leadership
- Work closely with system administrators to ensure minimal service disruption during patching and remediation
- Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline patch management and reduce response times
- Monitor patch release cycles, evaluate impact, and prioritize updates based on CVSS and mission-criticality
- Support remediation audits and inspections by ensuring all systems are documented, compliant, and up to date
- Maintain detailed logs and dashboards tracking patch status, exceptions, and vulnerability risk levels
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/MS or AA in computer sciences or information technology with two (2+) additional years of experience
- Must have at least five (5+) years of relevant experience working in an IT or Service Desk environment
- Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements and tools (STIGs, SCAP, RMF)
- Demonstrated experience with patching tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM/MCEM, Red Hat Satellite, JAMF, or Ansible)
- Ability to manage complex remediation plans across a heterogeneous IT environment
- Experience writing and modifying automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Tenable.sc/Nessus, Qualys, OpenSCAP)
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
- Must have an active Top Secret clearance
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
- IAT Level II Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.)
- Must obtain a computing environment certification within 6 months of hire
DESIRED:
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v4 certification
- Platform-specific certifications preferred (e.g., RHCSA, MCSA, MCP)
- Experience with incident management within the ServiceNow Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Experience creating and modifying documentation for technical processes and procedure
- Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment
- A problem solver and troubleshooter who thrives in resolving complex problems

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
