The Material Handling Laborer will be responsible for safely performing basic tasks required to operate the coal handling system, operate industrial mobile equipment, and perform general maintenance on equipment and facilities at a coal-fired power plant in San Antonio, TX. Why Join Savage: Competitive Pay Opportunities for growth and future leadership roles Profit sharing and generous PTO Paid Holidays Rotating Shift work with built-in overtime A culture of safety where every team member is valued Full benefits package: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability, and 401K Be part of a company committed to helping drivers achieve more than they dreamed possible Here is what you will be doing Actively participate in Savage's safety programs Perform daily inspections of equipment for safety and operational deficiencies Perform basic tasks in the operation of the Coal handling system Operation of Heavy Industrial Equipment for the purpose of stockpiling coal, maintaining roads, application of dust suppression, etc. Execute general maintenance on mobile equipment, conveyor systems, crushers, and train unloading systems What we need from you High School or GED Possess a positive, forward-thinking, safety-minded attitude Willing to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Ability to read, write, and understand English, follow written and/or verbal instruction, and possess basic math and computer skills Work with a team, take direction from supervisors, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules Class C Driver's License required Here are some of the physical requirements This position works primarily in an outdoor environment with minimal to high concentrations of coal dust. Must be able to work in extreme weather such as wind, heat, and cold. Must have the ability and willingness to perform the essential physical functions of the position: Work at heights as well as climbing stairs and ladders Lift up to 50 pounds Lifting or moving objects over 50 pounds must be accomplished by either using extra manpower or machine-assisted lifting techniques Required to wear proper personal protective equipment as the environment and the position dictate Required to pass annual OSHA respirator fit test and pulmonary function tests #IND1
