Major Purpose:

The Maintenance Technician at Savage's Corpus Christi Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility.

Responsibilities / Job Duties: 

  • Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on mobile heavy equipment, conveyors and pickups, at our Corpus Christi facility.
  • Assists with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
  • Learn and partner with the Operations Manager to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures
  • Writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed
  • Support other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Operations Manager, even in areas outside typical heavy equipment/conveyor mechanic duties

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mobile heavy equipment, pickups, and conveyors
  • Minor electrical repairs and troubleshooting required
  • Expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer-based systems, being able to recognize problems is a big plus visually
  • Read, write, and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Willingness to do a significant amount of preventative maintenance
  • Prepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpful
  • Effective interfacing with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors, and other team members
  • TWIC Required
  • Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies, and policies
  • Strong record of continuous improvement, personal development, and attention to detail 

Education/Experience:

  • Prior experience as a mobile equipment mechanic/diesel mechanic, conveyors, and pickups, is required
  • Certifications preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

  • Will be on your feet for an extended period throughout the day
  • Navigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks, and other high places, ground that can be slick or uneven, and other industrial hazards
  • The work site is an industrial setting and will require someone who can work safely around this type of environment, as well as ensure compliance with strict OSHA and State regulations
