Savage Services, an established materials management company, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Savage Maintenance Program. The successful candidate will maintain and repair coke handling process equipment. Equipment will range from but not limited to, overhead bridge, belt conveyors, excavating heavy equipment, skid mount hydraulic pump units, skid mount lubrication pump systems, railcar loading systems, coke drum un-heading / re-heading devices and bridge cranes.

Here is what you will be doing
- Repair and maintain pumps, motors, hydraulics, conveyors, mobile and plant specific equipment
- Maintain and report spare parts inventory
- Complete PM services on plant and process equipment
- Practice Total safety procedures and rules
- Must understand and implement the Savage Maintenance Program
- Perform a pre/post shift equipment inspections
- Properly record and complete maintenance reports and service records
- Maintain good relations and open communication with coworkers and management via radio and other proper means
- Maintain a clean work environment by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility including structures, offices, restrooms, break rooms, vehicles, etc.
- Must be willing to perform any other special tasks assigned by management
Requirements of a successful Maintenance Mechanic
- Experience with repairing and maintaining bridge cranes and coke cutting equipment
- At least 5 years of experience with conveyors, changing rollers, pulleys, motors, changing and vulcanizing belts, bag houses, hoppers, crushers, magnets, scales, etc.
- At least 5 years of experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge and working experience with different types of welding and cutting.
- Must be able to periodically work at heights of up to but not limited to 150'.
- Knowledge of rigging
- Boiler maker skills a plus
- Knowledge of SAP { CMMS)
- Experience with automated equipment and basic computers are a plus.
- Practices and understands time management, is a self-starter with a positive outlook.
- Must have a strong mechanical and electrical repair background.
- Refinery or Industrial Plant Operations: experience with high safety standards and regulations associated with hazardous industrial plant environments.
- Material Handling: experience in aggregate quarries, mills, or mines with material moving equipment such as hoppers, conveyors, reclaimers, and overhead bridge cranes and their process flow.
- Experience with air or hydraulic operated hoist and drilling equipment is a plus.
- Additional experience operating back hoe, front end loader, dozer, or other heavy equipment is a plus.
- Experience with applying safety regulations and written procedures within a refinery or chemical plant is a plus.
- High School Diploma or greater
- Must understand the oil refining process and culture that comes with it
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role
- Ability to work outside in any weather condition
- Must be willing to work a rotating schedule
- Must be willing to work a rotating call out schedule
- Work in an environment containing coal dust, hazardous noise, confined space, and in hot or cold environments
- Work at heights, climbing stairs, and climbing ladders
- Walk on uneven ground and up to 3 miles per shift
- Must have ability to wear required PPR
- Must be able to pass a fit test and pulmonary function test for the purposes of wearing a respirator and recertify annually or as needed
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Must be able to periodically work at heights of up to but not limited to 150'
