Position Overview: The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the local leadership team, partnering with operations, customers, and team members to strengthen safety performance, operational excellence, and workforce capability. This role is highly field-engaged and focused on growing a strong safety and operational culture across all levels of the organization. The position supports the implementation and sustainability of the Savage System, customer safety management systems, and regulatory compliance while mentoring teams, driving training completion, and continuously improving site-specific policies, procedures, and performance. These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage: A culture that appreciates our Team Members Paid Time Off (“PTO”) and paid holidays Profit Sharing Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) Paid Parental and Uniformed Services leave What You'll Be Doing: Partner with operations, leadership, and customers to grow a strong safety and operational culture and improve overall safety mindset at all levels Mentor, coach, and develop a workforce skilled in rail operations and polyethylene transloading, including the development, execution, and maintenance of site-specific procedures Maintain a strong field presence (up to 50–60%), working alongside team members to observe work practices, reinforce expectations, identify improvement opportunities, and praise safe working behaviors. Ensure work activities are performed safely and in compliance with Savage policies, regulatory requirements, and customer standards, including customer internal personal safety management systems Drive consistent, on-time completion of required training Review, update, and maintain site-specific policies, procedures, and the Safety Management System to ensure regulatory and operational alignment Build and sustain trusted relationships with customers that create value and support long-term partnerships Empower the Safety Specialist Team through regular interactions. Partner with both internal leaders and the customer to set SH&E goals relevant to the operation. What You Need to Be Successful: Proven ability to analyze situations and data to make sound, risk-informed decisions Strong verbal communication skills and comfort presenting to groups, from frontline training to customer-facing discussions Excellent written communication skills for procedures, reports, training materials, and proposals Proficiency in MS Office Suite and the ability to navigate internal reporting systems for analysis and tracking Willingness and ability to work in the field within an industrial environment alongside operators. Comfort working in an industrial/refinery environment with exposure to weather elements, climbing on and under railcars, lifting 40+ lbs., and walking long distances on uneven ground Ability to travel occasionally (10-15%). Preferred Education/Experience: BA/BS preferred but not required Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional a plus Rail operations experience a plus Minimum of two years' experience as a safety professional in a refinery, oil and gas, or other industrial environment. #IND1
