THE OPPORTUNITY:

The New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP is seeking a Paralegal to join our Litigation practice group, and also provide support to the Labor & Employment practice group.  Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, you will perform a variety of paralegal duties for various attorneys.  This position interacts with attorneys, paralegals, staff, and outside vendors in a team setting and upholds the image of the Firm by maintaining the highest degree of excellence and client service.

 

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Administratively manage all phases of a litigation matter including motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial and appellate procedures
  •  Ability to work effectively within a team, manage expectations from a variety of stakeholders including firm attorneys, project managers, litigation support professionals, and other support professionals, and drive projects through to completion in a timely and efficient manner
  • Legal research and factual cite checking using the Blue Book on legal research platforms such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
  • Finalize and e-file court pleadings and documents on federal and/or state court online platforms.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of rules of procedure for various federal and state jurisdictions
  • Draft answers, routine notices, affidavits, memoranda, subpoenas and position statements in response to administrative charges
  • Review and outline depositions; locate and organize deposition exhibits; and digest testimony for motion practice and trial preparation
  • Ability to accurately write, edit and proofread (punctuation, grammar, spelling) correspondence and other legal documents
  • Manage electronic data and hard copy documents
  • Assist with arbitration, mediation and trial preparation
  • Maintain strong client relationships
  • Any other projects as assigned by an attorney or the Paralegal Manager.
 

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  •  At least five years of paralegal experience in a litigation environment.  Trial support experience a plus.

The salary range for this role is $94,000 to $105,000 annually, which is based on a 40 hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
