Assembler Optics I

1st Shift Monday - Thursday 10hrs

Position Summary:
Job duties include mechanical assembly, optical lens assembly, electronic assembly, and general assembly tasks in a fast-paced dynamic manufacturing environment.  Attention to detail during the assembly process is a must. Candidates must have experience with pneumatic tools and general mechanical assembly aptitude. Fine motor skills for small fasteners and part assembly is required. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
*May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
*Follow safety protocol and guidelines. 
*Read, interpret, and follow specific and highly detailed work instructions.
*Operate torque tools, electric drivers, hand tools, and specialized optical equipment.
*Compliance to high quality workmanship standards and lean manufacturing guidelines.
*Maintain a clean workspace and follow the 6 S standards/routines for the manufacturing area.
*Perform soldiering and some electronic assembly processes.
*Identify and correct lens debris, digs, or other lens aberrations.
*Discern micron size debris in optical systems.
*Perform quality inspections and recognize workmanship defects. 
*Operate robotic equipment and adhesive dispensers.

Education and/or Experience:
*High School Diploma or GED. College degree or applicable certifications a plus.
*Optical mechanical assembly preferred. 
*Optics handling and cleaning a plus.
*Ability to solder. Soldering certifications a plus. 
*English reading and writing skills, with the ability to follow written directions. 
*Proficient in math. 
*Computer navigation and ERP system interface a plus. 
*Ability to problem solve.
*High attention to detail, with a focus on quality first. 
*Ability to be trained and certified on several detailed assemblies, with a willingness to be cross-trained on many tasks. 
*Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
*Ability to work with little supervision, be self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. 

Working Conditions:
*Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
*Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of lunch and break periods. 
*Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
*The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing area where frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.  
*Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
*Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, the ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools in the assembly of parts.
*Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on the fine print.
*Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
