What We're Looking For
A Maintenance Supervisor at our Smyth – Chicago facility to lead the completion of day-to-day activities involving the repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and the overall facility. This role provides leadership for the department through training, documentation, communication and direct support. Acting as a cross-functional leader, this position ensures sustainable reliability and operational performance aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by overseeing and completing repairs and performing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Provide leadership, direction, training, and growth opportunities for maintenance staff; monitor repair and maintenance activity with emphasis on timeliness, effectiveness, and quality.
- Deliver continuous improvement leadership; identify, recommend, and implement areas for Lean improvement/modification.
- Participate in budget preparation, organize purchasing and documentation, and control department expenditure; consistently apply resources to cost reduction/cost control.
- Initiate purchase orders for materials and supplies such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Review, evaluate, accept, and coordinate outside contractor bids and work performance as needed.
- Perform experimental functions to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
- Maintain and compile accurate repair and maintenance logs and work order reports.
- Work safely, abide by, and promote established safety policies and procedures; identify and follow up on unsafe conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years progressive leadership experience in manufacturing environment with focus on equipment reliability and maintenance leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of electro-mechanical maintenance procedures, machine design, and tools and ability to perform complex maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with leadership, team members, and external partners.
- Experience with manufacturing safety and quality systems and performance reporting tools; lean manufacturing and ISO/BRC a plus.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $70,000-$80,000 DOE
