The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.
We have an immediate need for a SETA to Lead the ACE Experiences onsite out of Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of ACE Experiences Lead SETA. This individual will be central to connecting DARPA's innovators with the real-world operational environment of the military and relies upon extensive professional and personal networks to provide the Agency this access. The Experiences Lead is responsible for the end-to-end management of global visits for DARPA Program Managers to military units, aiming to impart deep mission context and expand stakeholder interaction. The ideal candidate is a seasoned strategic planner and an expert coordinator, dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of DARPA programs from ideation through to transition by providing critical insights into Department of War processes and operational needs. The candidate will be responsible for leading the 'Experiences' functional area of the ACE Academy, including conceiving, planning, coordinating, and executing visits by DARPA Program Managers to military units around the globe. Design experiences that impart crucial mission context and multiply military contacts for Program Managers. Develop contacts and context to support Program Managers across the full lifecycle of their programs, including the ideation, refinement, validation, and transition phases. Facilitate a deeper understanding of Department of War processes that govern technology development and fielding among program staff. Provide expert advice on Joint and Service capabilities development and acquisition policy, practice, and procedures. Discover, distill, and deliver relevant warfighter advocacy opportunities to Program Managers across the stakeholder landscape.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in a STEM field.
- 15+ years of military service in a technically-demanding role or as a DoW acquisition professional having served in field or senior-grade equivalent billets.
- 5+ years of experience in program management, operations, or analytical roles at a Department of War or Defense Industrial Base employer.
- 2+ years of experience as a DARPA employee (PM, SETA, GOV staff) or be an alumnus of any DARPA fellowship program.
- Experience managing government-funded R&D programs from concept development through closeout and transition.
- Fluent in executive (GO/FO) communications styles and products; exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Domain expertise in land, sea, air, space, intelligence, or cyber via both formal education and as a practitioner (emphasis on particular domains will vary based on existing team composition).
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Ability to work onsite at DARPA HQ in Arlington, VA full-time.

- 5+ years of experience working directly with DARPA Program Managers.
- Proven expertise in stakeholder management and engagement.
