The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction. Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy's top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces. Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA's decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition. SPA has a need for a fully remote Systems Engineer supporting VIRGINIA Class Submarine new construction certification.# #MC Responsibilities SPA is seeking an outgoing, detail oriented, self-starter to provide support to the Team Submarine VIRGINIA Class New Construction Program (PMS450). This effort seeks to unify submarine platform procurement activities and decisions to continue bringing improved capabilities to the undersea forces. Engineers and analysts supporting Team Submarine would continue SPA's decades of support to high-profile, major acquisition programs of significant importance to current and future capabilities of the US Navy. The Systems Engineer will provide direct support to PMS450 submarine construction and certification efforts. Responsibilities may include coordinating adjudication of commitments, coordination and adjudication of technical and programmatic issues, development of mitigations to production challenges, and supporting oversight of shipbuilder activities and progress. The Systems Engineer can also expect to brief senior leaders on program progress, being able to translate complex technical problems into executive-ready briefs. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a technical or a related field 7+ years in engineering or technical program analysis experience, including direct support to US Navy nuclear shipbuilding programs boat certification efforts Familiarity with Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE), Fly-by-Wire (FBW) and Deep Submergence Systems - Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC) requirements Excellent written and oral communications skills Proficient in using SharePoint and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to analyze and represent data and communicate to decision makers Current DoD security clearance - minimum Secret, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment Desired Qualifications: Recent experience working in Team Submarine Experience managing or supporting nuclear shipbuilding programs Experience with and knowledgeable of the Navy requirements and program office organizations and processes
