POSITION SUMMARY: Shipping & Receiving Clerk - Monday-Thursday 6AM-2:30PM

Reporting to the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor, this position will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting of transactions and posting activity according to customer requirements; offloading and loading activities as directed, verify shipments, and producing quality work through conformance to specification requirements. Also be responsible for assisting in other areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform shipping and receiving duties.
  • Verify accuracy of shipments using the MSO 
  • Prepare items for shipment.
  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments.
  • Record damaged items and record shortages and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
  • Meet shipping deadlines by working required hours.
  • Operate a fork truck to lift and move or hoist materials from the shipping or receiving area to storage or work area.
  • Required to follow safety standards. Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Work attendance must be exemplary.
  • Follow work instructions.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform set-up, material handling duties, and minor general maintenance.
  • Combine like parts into locations.
  • Participate in the processes of continuous improvement.
  • Operator is responsible for all area housekeeping.
  • Ability to effectively perform similar positions on the floor at any point in time.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in and support the principles of Open Book Management and recognize the responsibilities of being an owner of the company.
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed mostly in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. Physical effort requirements consist of lifting, pushing, or pulling material weighing 30-50 pounds occasionally. When there is an occasion to move heavy material greater than 50 pounds, the operator will request assistance from another operator, or utilize provided lifting equipment. Standing 30%; walking 40%, sitting 30%.

SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Shipping and receiving experience.
  • Good personal computer and data entry skills.
  • Good basic math skills.
  • One (1) year of experience in forklifts.
  • Knowledge of bills of lading, material shipping orders, packing slips, and other freight bills.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • High level of energy and motivation.

ADDITIONAL SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Educational exposure to manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to elevate to heights in excess of 15 feet.
  • Desire to expand personal competencies and capabilities through training and education
