Lead Employee Relations Partner 

Locations: Hyderabad/Mumbai, India 

This position is responsible for providing expert advice and support to managers and employees on workplace issues, ensuring compliance with India employment laws, managing conflicts, conducting investigations, and promoting positive employee relations within the organization. The position also will provide some ER support to operations in other Regions and to the overall global ER function. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Advising on Employment Law: Provide guidance to managers and employees on interpreting and applying India employment law, including issues related to performance management, disciplinary action, leave entitlements, termination of employment, and workplace harassment.  

  • Conflict Resolution: Facilitate constructive dialogue between employees and managers to resolve workplace disputes, including mediation and conflict coaching, aiming for amicable solutions.  

  • Workplace Investigations: Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints related to misconduct, performance issues, discrimination, or harassment, ensuring due process and documenting findings effectively.  

  • Case Management: Handle a caseload of employee relations issues, tracking progress, escalating complex cases to senior HR, and providing timely updates to relevant stakeholders.  

  • Policy Interpretation: Interpret and apply company employment policies, ensuring consistency and fairness in decision-making.  

  • Training and Development: Deliver training programs to managers on key employee relations topics like performance management, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution.  

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation and stay updated on legislative changes and support periodic audits to ensure compliance with policy. 

  • Projects: Devise, develop, and contribute to projects supporting the global ER function. 

 

 

What You Will Bring: 

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field is preferred.  

  • A minimum of 4-6 years' relevant experience as an Employee Relations Partner.  Alternatively, 8-10 years of experience in a generalist HR role with a strong focus on employee relations.  

  • Deep understanding of India employment law 

  • Conflict resolution expertise: Proven ability to effectively manage and resolve workplace conflicts through mediation and other techniques.  

  • Investigative skills: Experience conducting thorough and impartial workplace investigations, adhering to due process.  

  • Strong communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees, managers, and senior leadership.  

  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data and trends to identify potential employee relations issues and develop proactive solutions.  

  • Relationship building: Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the organization.  

  • Proactive technology/automation/improvement mindset: Continuous improvement thinker, always considering if there is a smarter/better way to get work done and then supporting implementation of the improvement. 

  • Engage, support and drive projects: work towards automation of HR business processes through business enterprise applications and other available technology. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook 

  • High proficiency in Excel preferred 

  • Nice to have: HR certification, Workday
