• The Deployment Automation Engineer will support a migration program to move applications from current deployment to fully automated deployment. The role focuses on converting existing deployment steps into CI/CD pipelines, maintaining workflows, and ensuring smooth and reliable releases across environments.
• RESPONSIBILITIES OF INCUMBENT: ROLE SPECIFIC
• Work closely with engineers to analyse current deployment processes and translate them into automated pipelines.
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps) to automate building, testing, and deploying applications.
• Configure and manage GitHub repository settings, environments, secrets, and protection rules required for automation.
• Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Python) used within GitHub Actions jobs.
• Assist in setting up and managing runners (hosted or self hosted) for executing workflows.
• Participate in testing and validation of new pipelines to ensure parity with existing deployments.
• Implement monitoring for deployment pipelines to detect failures early and troubleshoot integration issues during the migration phase.
• Create standardized deployment templates and documentation to ensure consistency across different development teams and environments (Dev, QA, Staging, Prod).
• Support teams in adopting the new CI/CD processes, including basic training and guidance.
• Escalate issues to Application Deployment Manager where required.

Knowledge and Technical Skills Essential

• Experience in Software development, Application Deployment, or Release Engineer.
• Proven experience moving projects from manual/FTP/script-based deployments to automated CI/CD systems.
• Practical experience with Git and GitHub (branches, pull requests, code review, repository configuration).
• Basic to intermediate scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, or Python).
• Experience with at least one major CI/CD platform (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.).
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts (build, test, artifact, deploy, rollback).
• Familiarity with Linux or Windows server environments used for deployments.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; able to interpret build/deploy logs.
• Detail-oriented and systematic in following and improving procedures.
• Good English communication skills and ability to work with cross functional teams.
• Ownership mindset with focus on reliability and repeatability
• Eager to learn and grow

Desirable

• Experience with self-hosted GitHub runners and their configuration.
• Exposure to containers (Docker) and/or orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience deploying to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or on-prem infrastructure.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code or config management tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
