About the Role:

SS&C Algorithmics, a division of SS&C Technologies, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director, Portfolio Management. This is a senior leadership role within the Product Strategy team and is designed for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of product strategy, people management, cross-functional team management, and operational excellence.

In this senior role, you will lead a team of subject matter experts to support their cross-functional collaboration to drive the development of our products across multiple solution areas.  You will also be responsible for coordinating complex product requirements, aligning stakeholders across development, marketing, sales, operations, and customer services and support, and implementing structured operational processes for the product management team.

As a Senior Director, Portfolio Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with goals of the business unit within SS&C and take into consideration that goals of SS&C overall.  You will lead the management and implementation of efficient practices that enable the product team to deliver on high-impact initiatives. Your ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution of deliverables while managing competing priorities, will be essential to your success.

SS&C Algorithmics has more than 200 Clients globally, operates in 25 countries and has a team of people who design, develop, sell and support risk analytics solutions for financial institutions.  SS&C Algorithmics is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. Candidates must be in commuting distance to an office and be willing to work in the office, per in-office requirements.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with key stakeholders across business functions (development, marketing, sales, services and support, etc.) to define product requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Serve as a key point of contact between product teams to ensure clear communication and a shared understanding of goals.
    • Translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements and user stories, ensuring that teams are aligned on expectations.
  • Strategic Product Leadership:
    • Drive the product vision and roadmap for complex products and features, ensuring they align with company strategy and customer needs.
    • Develop and execute a product strategy that addresses both short-term and long-term business priorities.
    • Define success metrics for product initiatives and track the delivery and impact of product development efforts.
  • Operational Cadence and Process Optimization:
    • Implement and refine the operational structure for the product management team, driving consistency and efficiency across product development processes.
    • Establish and maintain a clear product development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, prioritization, release planning, and post-launch reviews.
    • Develop regular communication cadence across teams, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely issue resolution.
    • Introduce frameworks, methodologies, and best practices for managing product workflows, enhancing team productivity and clarity.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership and Team Development:
    • Mentor and guide product managers, helping them grow their skill sets and capabilities.
    • Foster a collaborative environment and ensure that team members have the resources and support needed to succeed.
    • Act as a senior voice within the product organization, influencing key decisions and maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality software.
  • Stakeholder Management and Reporting:
    • Present product updates, roadmaps, and key decisions to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful product development and launch.
  • Risk Management and Problem Solving:
    • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to product timelines, scope, and quality.
    • Navigate complex problems by collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet both business and technical needs.
  • Customer and Market Focus:
    • Work closely with the sales, services, support and marketing teams to understand customer pain points and market trends, ensuring that product development efforts are customer centric.
    • Gather and prioritize customer feedback to continuously improve product offerings.

What You Will Bring:

  • Experience:
    • Experience in product management, with a proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex software products.
    • Extensive experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing requirements across different business units.
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in a senior or leadership role within product management, with a focus on structuring teams and processes.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Strong experience with product management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Lean).
    • Excellent strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align product goals with company objectives.
    • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and influence product teams and senior leadership.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of software development processes, tools, and technologies.
    • Ability to engage with technical teams and understand the implications of technical decisions on product development.
  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Other Qualities:
    • Highly organized, results-driven, and detail-oriented.
    • A collaborative mindset with a focus on team success over individual achievement.
    • Passion for delivering exceptional user experiences and creating products that solve real customer problems.
