In Australia, SS&C is predominately located in Melbourne and Sydney and has 600+ employees. Most of the Australian division are working on Unit Registry (referred to as Transfer Agency around the world) technology and services. SS&C Managed Funds Administration (MFA) is the largest provider of Unit Registry services in Australia, providing an end-to-end service for Fund Managers and Custodians.

What is the opportunity?
We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our Technology team in the Managed Funds Administration business. We're looking for someone who has a mixture of System Administration, DevOps and Software Engineering background. As much as we would like to hire a Unicorn, don't be discouraged if you don't tick all the boxes - we would still like to talk to you if you are passionate about solving problems and curious about learning how the business works. In this role you will have the autonomy to find and work on problems you deem important, if you're able to articulate the WHY. This is a fast-paced business, things can change quickly, so you will be expected to push yourself out of your comfort zone sometimes and demonstrate your ability to tackle multiple initiatives efficiently.

What you'll do

  • You will work alongside two other SREs and make an impact by working closely with engineering teams to operate and uplift our in-house Unit Registry platform and other 3rd party tools/services supporting a dynamic and fast-paced business.
  • Improve our tools to enable faster problem detection and recovery.
  • Provide guidance around tooling, standards and practices in infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, tracing, logging and observability.
  • Support and enable our Engineering teams in troubleshooting issues.
  • Be a part of an on-call roster responding to incidents.
  • Build and maintain tools that reduce toil in managing our Unit Registry platform.
  • Make it easier for engineering teams to achieve a high standard of system awareness.
  • Empower our engineers to create more efficient, scalable and reliable applications for our customers.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the team with ideas how to improve engineering & business operations & processes

What you'll bring

We use AWS, and we expect you to have demonstrated expertise in the following areas:

  • EC2, ECS, ALB, VPC, Route53
  • Strong Windows and Linux admin experience
  • Kubernetes / Docker
  • Infra-as-code (Terraform/Ansible)
  • Experienced in CI/CD tools (Jenkins)
  • Strong scripting experience
  • DataDog
