Overview

The Vermont Department of Mental Health (DMH) is currently seeking a compassionate team member to join their team. The DMH team is consistently working towards maintaining the existing level of mental health services available to Vermonters while also exploring opportunities to increase access to mental health services. The ultimate goal is to enhance the consumer experience by reducing wait times, increasing availability, and removing barriers so that Vermonters and their families can receive the appropriate level of care when and where they need it.


Are you interested in making a meaningful impact on crisis care services in Vermont? As the Crisis Training and Curriculum Development Specialist, your primary responsibility would be to develop and provide trainings about Vermont's mental health crisis services. Your role will involve developing a curriculum and program manual for major programs and assessing the training needs within the crisis continuum ongoing. The goal is to train and educate essential stakeholders, community partners, and other state government agencies and departments about crisis services in Vermont. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and mobile crisis performance metrics. This will help ensure that these programs meet the needs of Vermonters and help reduce emergency room utilization. Your work will be critical to the success of the crisis services in Vermont.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS:  Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.  In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Interaction with government staff, representatives of other human service organizations, and families and consumers are frequent and may involve conflict and strong feelings. Tact and diplomacy are needed. In state travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation should be available. Some evening and weekend work and some out-of-state travel may be required on a limited basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field AND one (1) year or more of clinical program experience with people with severe mental illness.
 
OR

Bachelor's degree or higher in clinical social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field AND three (3) years or more of clinical program experience with people with severe mental illness.
