Do you thrive on developing professionals, leading meaningful conversations, and driving systemic change? The Vermont Criminal Justice Council (VCJC) is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to join our team.


As a Fair & Impartial Policing (FIP) Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening public trust and advancing equitable policing practices across Vermont. This is an opportunity to influence not only individual officers, but also the broader culture and systems that shape public safety throughout the state.


In this role, you will design and deliver statewide FIP training programs; analyze race data collection to inform practice; collaborate with law enforcement agencies; support implementation of fair, evidence-based policing strategies; and contribute to the development of policies and training that have a lasting impact on Vermont communities.

This position is primarily based at the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford, with some regional travel required.

Environmental Factors

Duties are carried out in a variety of settings but most frequently within a standard office, or classroom. Position duties may require performance outside of normal workdays and hours due to the nature of law enforcement training and culture shift. Flexibility is required and tight deadlines can occur. Strong and differing opinions may arise as to the nature, content, or method of delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) or more years of experience instructing and implementing organizational change initiatives INCLUDING training or initiatives regarding race, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher. 
Experience with leading or supporting professional development, large group facilitation, and survey data tracking and/or analysis.

Special Requirements

Must be able to pass a background investigation applicable to the position.
