Description

The Assistant Director of Advisory Operations will manage several teams to achieve departmental and firm goals. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the department's high-level functions to effectively guide and direct managers on a variety of topics pertaining to Stifel's Advisory business. Acting as an internal consultant, the Assistant Director will collaborate extensively with other departments at Stifel and external vendors to drive firm and regulatory initiatives.

 



What We're Looking For

  • Provide strategic leadership to a team of managers overseeing daily general processing for the firm's advisory accounts.
  • Support the oversight and coordination of daily operational activities across sub-groups within the department.
  • Manage departmental hiring and separation decisions, and regularly evaluates organizational structure with Director to optimize workforce effectiveness.
  • Train under Director to gain proficiency in contract negotiations, vendor onboarding, formal supervisory responsibilities, and broader managerial functions.
  • Collaborate with Director and Managers on compensation planning, including salary reviews, merit increases, and performance-based incentives.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of departmental procedures and operational workflows.
  • Contribute to the implementation of policy decisions that enhance operational efficiency while maintaining a client-centric approach.
  • Understand how procedural changes or new initiatives will affect operations and what adjustments are needed.
  • Provide escalation assistance and decision making for department management.


What You'll Bring

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Extensive expertise in brokerage or advisory operations, with deep subject matter experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration abilities to drive successful project execution.
  • Demonstrated capability to mentor, develop, and support team members in their career growth.
  • Exceptional communication skills for engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of management, as well as external auditors and regulatory examiners.


Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum Required: 7+ years' experience within the financial services industry


Licenses & Credentials

  • Minimum Required: Series 7, 24, and 66 or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.


Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook  #LI-AS1
