About the Role:
The Vice President, Enterprise Applications is a senior technology executive responsible for setting the strategic direction, governance model, and operational excellence standards for the company's enterprise application ecosystem.
This leader ensures that all enterprise platforms, field systems, data platforms, integrations, and business intelligence are aligned to business strategy, scalable for growth, and architected for long-term sustainability.
The VP will modernize legacy environments, reduce technical debt, strengthen data integrity, and build a disciplined product and delivery model that improves reliability, accelerates innovation, and enhances the employee and customer experience.
This role serves as a key strategic partner to Executive Leadership, translating business priorities into technology roadmaps while ensuring strong execution, financial stewardship, and governance.
Key Responsibilities:Enterprise Applications Strategy & Portfolio Governance
- Develop and own a multi-year enterprise applications roadmap aligned to corporate strategy.
- Establish governance frameworks that prioritize investments based on business value, risk mitigation, and operational impact.
- Rationalize and optimize the application portfolio to eliminate redundancy and technical fragmentation.
- Ensure architecture decisions support scalability, integration, security, and performance.
Modernization & Technical Debt Reduction
- Lead modernization of legacy systems through cloud adoption, SaaS optimization, and integration redesign.
- Implement preventative governance to reduce future technical debt.
- Establish architectural standards and lifecycle management processes.
- Improve system reliability, uptime, and performance metrics.
Delivery Excellence & Operational Discipline
- Oversee design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of enterprise systems.
- Implement disciplined product management and agile delivery practices.
- Establish KPIs for release quality, cycle time, defect rates, adoption, and user satisfaction.
- Ensure strong change management and stakeholder communication.
Data & Integration Strategy
- Lead enterprise data architecture strategy including governance, master data management, and integration standards.
- Ensure data integrity across systems and business functions.
- Oversee data conversion and migration initiatives during system implementations.
- Partner with business leaders to strengthen analytics and reporting capabilities.
Security, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure enterprise applications meet regulatory, security, audit, and operational requirements.
- Partner with Information Security and Infrastructure leaders to maintain strong risk controls.
- Establish controls to safeguard sensitive and proprietary information.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and lead high-performing teams across application development, architecture, integration, QA, and support.
- Develop succession pipelines and technical leadership bench strength.
- Establish clear performance standards, accountability, and execution discipline.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
Financial & Vendor Stewardship
- Develop and manage enterprise applications budget and capital planning.
- Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
- Optimize SaaS licensing models and third-party spend.
- Ensure strong ROI and measurable business value from technology investments.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field required.
- Master's degree (MBA or technical equivalent) preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 7–10 years leading enterprise application teams in a complex, multi-location organization.
- Demonstrated experience owning and executing large-scale ERP or enterprise system implementations.
- Experience modernizing legacy environments and leading cloud or SaaS transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record reducing technical debt and improving system stability and reliability.
- Experience leading cross-functional technology governance in partnership with senior business leaders.
- Background in capital planning, portfolio management, and technology investment prioritization.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and complex vendor ecosystems.
