Executive Medical Director, Oncology, Sutter East Bay Medical Group

Sutter East Bay Medical Group is seeking an experienced, innovative, and collaborative oncologist to lead our Comprehensive Cancer program. The Sutter Health East Bay Market is one of six market areas for Sutter Health, an integrated healthcare network headquartered in Sacramento, CA. Sutter plans to open a brand-new state of the art comprehensive cancer center in Oakland in the spring of 2026 which will be co-branded with an NCI designated academic medical center. In advance of the 2026 Oakland cancer center opening, other key East Bay oncology locations will be opened as premier oncology centers.

We are seeking an Executive Medical Director for Oncology. This Executive Medical Director will report to the SEBMG CMO and will collaborate with the operational Oncology Service Line Executive in a dyad partnership to build oncology clinical teams and programs.

Sutter Health provides equitable care to our communities, including cancer care, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or insurance coverage. Our integrated network collectively detects seventeen thousand new cancer cases annually and cares for patients at twenty integrated cancer centers. Our physician network is comprised of more than two hundred medical and radiation oncology clinicians working together to create programs of distinction in many clinical areas. As we expand cancer care in the east bay, we plan to expand the clinical trials available to our patients which currently number more than 150 across our network. While Sutter Health already has centers of excellence in neuro-oncology, hematologic malignancy, and cellular therapies, the Executive Medical Director will guide in the development of additional programs of distinction in the east bay.

This individual will lead the strategic growth planning and determine what future resources are needed to support growth in the next 10 years.
