The USAID-funded Climate Adaptation Support Activity, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for an Adaptation Specialist.
Position Description: The Adaptation Specialist will provide technical and operational support to individual workstreams under CASA with USAID Missions, Washington, and partners to support adaptation mainstreaming, programming, and scaling to effect change at a meaningful level. The Adaptation Specialist will support the technical management of activities under the program, including inputting into technical deliverables. The Adaptation Specialist will also provide operational support including supporting the management of USAID and its counterparts. This is a long-term position through September 2027. The position can be fully remote from a US-based location or hybrid within a commutable distance to either one of our office locations in Winooski, VT or Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities:
* Provides operational and technical support to individual workstreams initiated by USAID including supporting the timely delivery of relevant, high-quality, and impactful services.
* Assists in the management of USAID counterparts including facilitating meetings, taking notes, and documenting feedback on products and deliverables.
* Drafts, develops, and/or edits technical deliverables including, for example, briefing notes, blog posts, policy documents, research products, climate risk management document reviews, etc.
* Participates in whole-of-project planning including work plan development, strategic planning, and adaptation framework development.
* Identifies, defines, and implements other technical tasks for CASA including contributing to deliverables and managing discrete tasks and activities as needed.
* Coordinates and supports the management of consultants and subcontractors for discrete technical activities.
* Represents CASA at workshops, conferences, and other events.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
* Minimum bachelor's degree in climate science, environmental studies, natural resources management, international development, or a relevant field.
* Minimum 1 year of experience in climate change adaptation, resilience, or a related field. This could include supporting organizations, firms or projects working on climate adaptation policy and planning, climate risk and vulnerability assessments, adaptation program and project design and implementation, advancing transformative and inclusive adaptation, or other relevant technical experience.
* Experience supporting international organizations, donors, or other federal/domestic entities on programs, projects, or activities related to climate adaptation.
* Experience managing clients, consultants, and/or subcontractors.
* Experience supporting the development of technically driven reports and deliverables including writing and editing technical content.
* Experience with USAID and USAID-funded programs preferred.
* Experience with and understanding of U.S. Government and/or international humanitarian sectors and systems preferred.
* Ability to travel internationally.
* Professional proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish or French preferred.
* Current US work authorization at the time of application required.

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant and equitable approach to employment compensation and rate setting. The anticipated pay range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000 annually.
