Reporting to the program leadership, this role provides hands-on clinical mentorship, technical guidance, and capacity development support to midwives, clinical coordinators, and facility teams.

The International Midwife Mentor will lead efforts to improve maternal, neonatal, and adolescent health outcomes by delivering bedside coaching, structured training, and mentorship programs, while supporting the development and implementation of SRH protocols and guidelines. This role will also collaborate with national health authorities, UN agencies, and implementing partners to advocate for rights-based, adolescent-responsive SRH services and promote sustainable midwifery-led service delivery.

This is a key technical role for a midwifery professional who enjoys working in dynamic, mission-driven environments, balancing strategic thinking with practical, field-based delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build national capacity by mentoring midwife coordinators and supervisors to lead sustainable, locally driven mentorship programs.
  • Support the development, adaptation, and dissemination of SRH clinical guidelines and protocols aligned with national policies and international standards.
  • Contribute to program planning, monitoring, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal, neonatal, and adolescent health outcomes.
  • Strengthen data collection, analysis, and reporting for monitoring, evaluation, and program accountability.
  • Advocate for respectful, gender-equitable, inclusive, and adolescent-responsive SRH services.
  • Collaborate with government counterparts, UN agencies, and partners to ensure coordinated, integrated, and rights-based SRH service delivery.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Midwifery recognized by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), or post-Bachelor of Nursing Diploma in Midwifery; advanced degree in Midwifery, Nursing, Medicine, or Public Health desirable.
  • Minimum two years of full-scope clinical midwifery experience.
  • Proven experience in mentoring and capacity development of midwives or SRH providers, preferably in humanitarian or low-resource settings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of SRH, maternal, neonatal, and adolescent health, and evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Understanding of health systems, service delivery, and program implementation in low-resource or humanitarian contexts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with program monitoring, reporting, and use of data for quality improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with web-based management systems advantageous.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
  • Commitment to gender equality, human rights, social inclusion, and a rights-based approach to SRH.
