Civil/Structural Engineer In Training
LOCATION: Thunder Bay
STATUS: Staff/Permanent

Our Thunder Bay office specializes in small to mid-sized projects for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:
- Heavy industrial Facilities
- Oil & Gas
- Mining
- Water & Wastewater
- Municipal & Utilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Structural Discipline Manager, the successful candidate will perform:
- Perform structural analysis and calculations for buildings, equipment supports, pile and shallow foundations
- Detailed engineering design according to governing codes, industry standards, and experiences
- Coordinate work with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical etc
- Produce sketches to be incorporated in models/drawings by Designers/Drafters
- Compilation of engineering work package, contract documents, and other project-related documentation as required
- Provide construction support including site visit, review shop drawings, respond to RFIs etc
- Adherence to all health and safety policies and guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering Degree
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Membership
- Working knowledge of the NBCC code, CSA concrete and steel design code
- Be familiar with structural analysis software such as SFrame, STAAD, SAP2000
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Navisworks applications
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- 2 to 3 years civil/structural design experience in EPC or Consulting industry is preferred
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / REQUIREMENTS
- A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. A copy of a valid work permit may be required.
- If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
- To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Periodic travel within Canada to client sites and regional Tetra Tech offices will be required
- Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing and background checks may be required for our client worksites
- Must be able to adhere to our Office Vaccination & Covid Policies. We will be confirming your eligibility to comply with these requirements.
