Cosentini Associates (www.cosentini.com), a Tetra Tech company, invites you to consider an exciting opportunity at our San Diego, CA office.  We are seeking a motivated Code Consultant and Fire Protection Engineer to join our renowned design team to design.

Your Role:

•    Design a wide array of buildings ranging from residential buildings, education buildings, aircraft hangars, datacenters, warehouses, substations, high-rises, commercial buildings, and all types of complex industrial type buildings.
•    Code Analysis: Reviewing project plans and specifications to identify applicable building codes and standards.
•    Compliance Guidance: Advising architects, engineers, and contractors on how to meet code requirements during the design and construction phases.
•    Plan Review: Evaluating construction documents for compliance with local, state, and national building codes.
•    Inspections: Conducting site inspections to ensure that construction practices align with approved plans and code requirements.
•    Risk Management: Identifying potential code-related risks and providing solutions to mitigate those risks.
•    Dispute Resolution: Assisting in resolving disputes related to code compliance or interpretations of building codes.
•    Design of fire systems including sprinkler systems, fire alarm, smoke control, and gaseous suppression systems.
•    Utilize 3D building modeling tools such as Revit to create drawings and calculations.
•    Solve unique building code issues utilizing computational fluid dynamics fire modeling software.
•    Be instrumental in the development of a Code Consulting Practice in Southern California.
•    Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
•    Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
•    Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
•    Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
•    B.S. or M.S. candidate in Fire Protection Engineering, or other engineering discipline with complementary experience.
•    0-7 years of experience in code consulting, fire alarm design and/or automatic sprinkler/suppression system design, fire modeling, and egress design.
•    Strong desire to learn.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience. 
Salary Range: $70k-120k
