Practice Area Summary:

The Strategic Communications Practice Area manages all of MSI's traditional and digital platforms, including www.msiworldwide.com, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. The Practice Area liaises extensively with our Practice Areas and field-based personnel to gather and curate content for external promotion and marketing, including blogs, website content, videos, podcasts, publications, and social media posts. The Practice Area also works closely with the Business Development Unit (BDU) to position MSI for upcoming proposal/contract opportunities, as well as promotes MSI's thought leadership.

Position Summary:

The Communications Associate/Graphics Specialist will provide support to MSI's Strategic Communications Practice Area and BDU. This role will also be a cross-cutting member of MSI, working across business development and strategic communications to enhance proposals, create products and approaches to communicate to internal and external audiences, and translate research and analysis into user-friendly documents and graphics. This role may also be available as a technical resource for project-related work working closely with technical staff, Project Managers, and the Senior Graphics Designer. The preferred location for this role is in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create creative graphics and presentation-quality information products to explain our technical work and approaches.
  • Work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer to support project-based requests for reports, graphics, and other products.
  • Liaise with and work with the business development team to support proposals.
  • Serve as a resource to projects for content curation and overall marketing opportunities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in the field of strategic communications or a related field required. 
  • Experience producing diagrams, visualized data, and infographics.
  • Experience producing reports, fact sheets, and other communications products.
  • Experience with light copyediting and writing short content for social media, website posts, etc. preferred.
  • Experience in training is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS and/or statistical analysis platforms, such as R or Stata preferred.
  • Experience with WordPress and designing pages such as Elementor, or similar editors preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to polish documents and presentations in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create animations and/or explainer videos preferred.
  • Ability to liaise with multi-cultural teams across time zones.
  • Ability to multi-task numerous communications tasks, while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong graphic design, data and research result presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English required. Second language skills preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement:

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation. We commit to providing a holistic comprehensive salary analysis, including reviews of individual skill sets and compensable factors related to qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this position is $64,000 to $70,000 USD.
