Position Summary:

Tetra Tech is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to create electrical system design documents including equipment specifications, single line diagrams, and conduit and cable design, in support of industrial plant operations.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
 •    Create electrical system design documents including equipment specifications, single line diagrams, and conduit and cable design, in support of industrial plant operations.
•    Create 3D Lighting models and lighting study using DiaLUX software to ensure adequate light based on requirements set by NEC (National Electrical Code) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
•    Use Matlab data analysis tool to review and manipulate mass quantities of data. 
•    Use deferential equation and complex analysis principles to study, plot and program power and control systems.
•    Create control systems design documents including junction box diagrams, loop drawings, I/O wiring diagrams, data sheets, and other documents in support of industrial plant operations, using MS Office, AutoCAD, Visio, Vendor Software.
•    Review and approve project drawings and documents to ensure they meet company and client specifications.
•    Evaluate and understand electrical and control system drawings, using knowledge of industrial control systems, 4-20mA, HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer Protocol), and Fieldbus. 
•    Redline technical drawings and documents. 
•    Adhere to ANSI(American National Standards Institute), ISA(International Society of Automation), API(American Petroleum Institute), ASME(American Society of Mechanical Engineers), MSHA(Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA codes. 
•    Perform electrical calculations and control system design.
•    Follow project development best practices, electrical and control system complexities, and evaluation of design timelines.
•    Prepare Cost Estimates, Specifications, Project Status Reports and Project Timelines.
•    Assemble budgets from vendor and subcontractor costs.  
•    Perform technical writing and explain complex ideas including design recommendations.
•    Provide Programming applications to support the execution and commissioning of projects using Vendor Software.
•    Perform ladder logic and function block coding programming functions.
 

  • Required Qualifications:
    •    Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering 
    •    1 year of experience as an Electrical Engineer.


    •    Demonstrable knowledge of and prior experience using: MS Office, and AutoCAD, Visio, and Vendor software.
    •    Demonstrable knowledge of and prior experience in industrial control systems, 4-20mA, HART, and Fieldbus.


    •    Demonstrable knowledge and prior experience performing lighting design and control parameters using DiaLUX.
    •    Demonstrable knowledge of ANSI, ISA, API, ASME, MSHA, and OSHA codes. 
    •    Ability to perform electrical calculations and control system design.
    •    Ability to utilize Matlab to review, manipulate and model complex Power and Control systems.
    •    Ability to evaluate and understand electrical and control system drawings. 
    •    Ability to redline technical drawings and documents.
    •    Knowledge of project development best practices, electrical and control system complexities, and evaluation of design timelines.
    •    Ability to assemble budgets from vendor and subcontractor costs. 
    •    Ability to perform technical writing and explain complex ideas including design recommendations.
    •    Ability to perform programming functions including ladder logic and function block coding.
     

Physical Requirements:
•    Candidate must be able to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time
•    The employee will be required to travel to project sites via air or land  

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
•    Office setting 
•    Domestic travel to client sites up to 4 times per year for up to 5 days per trip

•    Full Time Salaried Position 
•    Monday -Friday (40 hr.) work week
