Job Description

LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with installing, maintaining, and integrating systems within the National Airspace System (NAS). The Engineer will support the FAA by performing electrical and electromechanical fabrication, installation, implementation and deployment support for radar, communications, and miscellaneous activities relative to FAA projects. Responsible for in-service improvements and modifications of assigned NAS systems (e.g., CARSR, ARSR-4, ARSR-4 with IFF Mode 4 and 5, and NDAG Radios) as well as support for the DoD, DHS, and other federal agencies' tactical homeland defense initiatives. These responsibilities are accomplished by development and implementation of modifications and upgrades to assigned equipment and facilities. Typical projects range from feasibility studies of the proposed modification through prototype development, testing, and preparation of documentation for release to stakeholders. The candidate must be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and ensure the safe and effective operation of all equipment. The candidate should be capable of interpreting technical documentation and using sound judgment to solve problems. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment are essential.

This role supports the Federal Aviation Administration, which is responsible for ensuring the safety of 45,000 flights and 3 million passengers traversing over 28 million miles of U.S. controlled airspace every day. In addition to providing air traffic control and safety oversight for civilian aviation, the FAA also works in lockstep with the Department of Defense and other government agencies to ensure the security of our nation. A key component of that coordination involves the collaborative use of aviation tools and data.

Job Duties & Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Provide technical assistance in the solution of site unique and/or national system problems.
  • Provide cyber security analysis of NDP systems and networks, and assist with the development of the security design, implementation, and support of security solutions and technologies.
  • Perform help desk functions to include answering phones and troubleshooting systems/networks.
  • Provide additional on-site services to include radar system restoration, modification implementation, and optimizations, when directed by the COR.
  • Participate at various meetings concerning system support and provide meeting minutes following the meeting.
  • Design, develop, and provide electronic equipment modifications or system support modifications including the development of NAS Change Proposals (NCPs).
  • Review, rewrite, and publish technical documentation on NDP systems.
  • Use special test equipment and components necessary for system optimizations once procured by the Government.
  • Provide configuration management support on both the system software and hardware documentation to include developing/updating drawings, authority to operate (ATO), Technical Instruction Manuals (TIs), and orders.
  • Create cost estimates for system modifications and engineering support for the life of the program.

     

     

     

    Required Qualifications - A successful candidate will have

     

     

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM field +5 years of relevant experience
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience over and above the minimum experience requirements for the position will be considered equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; climb stairs/ladders and towers
  • Ability to bend or stoop for extended periods
  • Ability to work in diverse environmental conditions (outside/extreme weather)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel extensively for extended periods.

     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of FAA operations and sustainment of NAS systems (e.g., CARSR, ARSR-4, ARSR-4 with IFF Mode 4 and 5, and NDAG Radios).
  • Experience drafting technical drawings for changes made to operational infrastructure environments.

    • Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
    • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
    • Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
    • Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
    • Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.

    Work Environment/Environmental Factors:

    • Primarily computer-based work; meetings or collaboration may be required.
    • Outdoor work with exposure to variable weather conditions

Compensation (Pay Bands)  
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. 
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C."
