The Opportunity:
Glumac, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking Energy Student Interns to join our team in Summer 2026! We have developed a robust 9-week Intern Program (June through August), intended to develop student interns in the building engineering consulting profession and provide them with the tools necessary to fill a full-time position on our team after graduation. Your supervisor and mentor will work with you to develop a plan, outline goals and actions, and provide training that will prepare you for a career in this field.
Your Role:
As an energy intern at Glumac, you will gain hands-on learning experience supporting real projects. We will teach you how to analyze energy data, develop energy models, and prepare reports and presentations that support our clients' energy, carbon, and climate action goals for their building portfolios. You will work side by side with our senior energy consultants and engineers to develop a better understanding of sustainable buildings, clean energy technologies, and energy modeling & analytics. You will support real projects that will help you to develop better technical communication and consulting skills with our clients.
In this role you will:
• Provide whole building energy modeling (IES-VE) and other data analytics to improve the performance of new and existing buildings.
• Advise building owners, operators, and architects on energy and decarbonization strategies.
• Support energy auditing, retro-commissioning, and decarbonization master planning projects.
• Analyze trend data for energy systems, building operations, and campus energy systems.
• Assess onsite renewable energy systems and develop microgrid energy models.
Impact, Innovation, and Inclusivity should be core values. To thrive in this role, you should:
• Be pursuing an engineering or other technical degree.
• Have a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
• Have knowledge of sustainable building design and clean energy systems.
• Have experience with data analytics, including Excel, Python, R Power BI , etc.
Along with local site visits, technical seminars, and training, Glumac will connect you with team members to source knowledge and experience, which will create an invaluable network to help you learn, grow, and develop your professional skills. You will have the opportunity to work on existing projects with a range of clients, including global technology companies, local public agencies, and universities at the forefront of sustainability and decarbonization. Previous Energy Interns have had the opportunity to work with clients including Apple, Amazon, State of California, and various local universities.
In-Office Requirement:
Glumac provides a hybrid working environment for our employees. We strongly feel that the best learning experiences occur when they are in the office working side-by-side with their colleagues. We ask interns to commit to working in a Glumac office a minimum of 2-3 days per week, with the option to work remotely for the other 2-3 days. Please identify in your application which location you are interested in working from, keeping in mind that Glumac is unable to provide compensation for relocation expenses or housing costs. We are looking for Energy Interns in our Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego offices.
Salary Range:
$23-$28 per hour
The base salary range represents the low and high ends of the proposed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Additional consideration will be given for Masters and PhD level applicants. The range listed is just one component of Glumac's total compensation package for employees. Interns should expect to work 40 hours per week throughout the course of the internship period.
Application Process:
Our application window will be open until the end of October. We will conduct first-round interviews on a rolling basis and final round interviews towards the end of October through early November.
