The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is currently seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist in our Irvine, CA or San Bernardino, CA office. Field work tasks may include planning and preparation, groundwater sampling, soil logging, water well installation oversight, remedial system operation and maintenance, and Phase I environmental site assessments. Office tasks may include preparing components of technical documents under the guidance of a Project Manager.

Your Role:

  • Groundwater, soil, and soil gas sample collection.

  • Remedial system operation and maintenance.

  • Soil and well drilling oversight.

  • Data entry, processing, and tabulation.

  • Preparing sections of technical reports and proposals assisting senior staff.

  • Management and maintenance of field equipment.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Geology, Environmental Science or related field required.

  • 0-3 years of previous experience in environmental and remediation projects (investigation and remedial actions).

  • Attention to detail, excellent technical abilities, project/task management, strong communication skills, good technical writing skills, and an ability to quickly learn new skills are required.

  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.

  • Database development/management, and CAD or GIS experience is desirable.

  • Good work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

  • Professional Geologist Certification preferred but not required.

  • Valid 40-hour HAZWOPER with associated 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher and Supervisor Training certifications are preferred.

  • Ability to travel and perform field work (approximately 50-75% of travel required).

  • Must be able to traverse large terrain carrying a 50lb pack, over uneven ground, in all weather conditions: cold weather <40 degrees or >95 degrees).

  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions. 

 

Target salary range:  $25.50/hr. to $28.00/hr. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
