Your Role:

This position provides engineering support for pipeline integrity team focusing on geohazard projects nationwide. You will participate in a multi-disciplinary project team. A successful candidate will bring engineering and technical expertise to a team of established consultants with a proven track record of 43+ years in the Oil & Gas Industry.

  • Conduct geohazard assessments and identification along pipeline routes, including landslides, erosion, subsidence, seismic activity, soil stability, permafrost, and flooding risks.
  • Analyze and interpret geotechnical data from field investigations, borehole logs, soil sampling, and geophysical surveys to support safe pipeline design and routing decisions.
  • Collaborate with pipeline routing engineers to recommend alignment modifications to avoid or mitigate geohazard risks.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate geohazard conditions and characterize site-specific data.
  • Perform hydrographic surveys at waterbody crossings including small creeks and rivers. Techniques include wading with chest waders and use of kayaks to data log with GPS data collectors (e.g. Trimble).
  • Develop geohazard mitigation plans and engineering controls to ensure pipeline integrity and compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Prepare geohazard-related sections of engineering design basis documents, risk assessments, and environmental impact evaluations.
  • Participate in development and review of construction bid packages and scopes of work, specifically related to geotechnical and geohazard considerations.
  • Coordinate with environmental, permitting, and regulatory teams to ensure geohazard mitigation measures meet compliance requirements.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring and reassessment of geohazard risks during pipeline construction, commissioning, and operation phases.
  • Assist in developing emergency response and integrity management plans that address geohazard-related threats to pipeline safety.
  • Liaise with third-party geotechnical consultants and contractors performing specialized investigations or remediation work.
  • Use outputs from GIS and geotechnical software tools for mapping, hazard modeling, and risk visualization along pipeline corridors.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in ABET accredited Civil program with 0-5 years of relevant experience.

  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).

  • Willingness to attain PE licensure.

  • Must be able to communicate with peers, contractors, and clients clearly and efficiently.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Must be a self-starter capable of handling solo projects as well as working with a group, eager to learn and expand your skillset, and be detail oriented.

  • Pipeline industry experience preferred.

  • Experience with slope stability modeling.

  • Experience with river hydraulic and hydrography (H&H) modeling. 

  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions. 

 

Target salary range:  $75,000 to $82,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
