Your Role:

Tetra Tech is seeking a full-time Mid-Level Geologist or Environmental Engineer for our Helena, MT operations to provide environmental technical and field support on various projects, including investigation and cleanup of petroleum release sites, phase I and phase II environmental site assessments, State and Federal Superfund sites, and former military sites. Additional job responsibilities include sampling multiple media types including groundwater and surface water, soils, air, and building materials. 

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with environmental regulation, geologic assessments, remediation projects, lithologic logging, air, soil and groundwater sampling, and ArcGIS. Candidates must also have/be:

  • Field investigation experience including geologic well logging, monitor well development, groundwater sampling, soil sampling, and detailed data recording required.
  • Project reporting for environmental investigations and cleanup in accordance with state and federal regulations required. 
  • Exposure to or experience with GIS programs (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.) required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Must be able to interface directly with clients and the public.
  • Must have the ability to travel across the State and the Nation as needed.
  • Experience in data presentation with R is preferred. 

In addition:

  • This position requires you to drive on a regular basis.  Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Education / Certification:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or Soil Science required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Professional Geologist (PG) license is preferred.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certificate is preferred.  

Physical Demands:

Site visits and potential oversight for drilling projects require the ability to visit and inspect projects on various terrain and in seasonal weather.  Must be able to carry at least 50lbs of equipment in varied terrain.

Work Environment:

  • This position may require up to 50% travel.
  • Must be able to work in an office setting in a team environment and travel for extended periods of time throughout the U.S. for varying type of projects in all types of weather conditions.

The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $80,000, depending on education, experience, and skills.

Relocation assistance may be provided.
