Job Summary:
Tetra Tech Inc. is seeking a GPS Field Technician in the City of St. Louis are to perform data collecting geographic coordinates and field data using GPS devices, mobile mapping applications, and related equipment. This role involves traveling to designated sites, recording precise location information, documenting field conditions, and ensuring data is submitted accurately and on time. The technician supports project teams by providing dependable spatial data used in planning, construction, asset management, and reporting.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

Travel to assigned field locations to collect GPS coordinates using handheld GPS units, mobile applications, or surveying equipment.
Verify accuracy of collected data and ensure it meets project and company quality standards.
Document site conditions through notes, photos, and standardized checklists.

Upload, organize, and submit collected data into project management systems, GIS platforms, or project management systems.
- Report discrepancies, access challenges, or environmental obstacles encountered in the field.
- Maintain GPS devices, ensure batteries are charged, and keep equipment in working order.
- Communicate daily with project managers or supervisors regarding completed sites and upcoming assignments.
- Follow company safety procedures and comply with site-specific safety requirements.
- Assist with basic mapping, labeling, and data review when needed.
- Proficiency in using administrative software, databases, and other technology tools that facilitate inspections processing, documentation, and communication.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accurately operate GPS devices, tablets, or mobile mapping software (training may be provided).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Able to work both in a team environment and independently in outdoor environments.
- Strong organization skills, be comfortable interacting with clients, have a flexible style, and be able to immediately adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong computer skills, knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and the ability to learn new products are needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in field data collection, surveying, mapping, construction, utilities, or related field.

Familiarity with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, Field Maps) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of map reading, coordinates, and geographic data.
- Remote Pilot License in accordance with 14 CFR part 107
- IS-559: Local Damage Assessment
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, or navigate uneven terrain for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind.)
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. of equipment.
- Comfort working around varying active jobsite areas.
