Your Role:
- 2-5 years of experience experience in Contaminated Sites and have interest in and be comfortable undertaking field work and office-based reporting requirements.
- At times, travel throughout Alberta (with potential to work in other jurisdictions) will be required.
- Provide support on simple to complex contaminated site investigations (e.g., Phase 1 ESA, Phase 2 ESA, Detailed Site Investigations), groundwater monitoring, and remediation activities at urban and remote field sites.
- Oversee drill rig and heavy equipment to describe and collect quality soil samples.
- Groundwater and surface water sampling.
- Conduct soil classification and terrain surveys, including soil sampling, analyzing field data and mapping soil according to the Canadian System of Soil Classification.
- Remediation and spill response oversight .
- Review field data and provide initial data interpretations.
- Work with senior technical staff to deliver high quality products to meet our client's specific needs.
- Prepare technical correspondence, work plans, cost estimates and budgets as part of a proposal or project
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Diploma in environmental technology / applied sciences, or a Bachelor's degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years work experience in environmental consulting specifically related contaminated sites investigations and a passion to grow their career and excel in this field.
- Professional Registration in Alberta or registered “in-training” and working towards it (e.g., AScT, C.E.T., P.Ag. P.Geol. P.Eng.).
- Strong written communication skills and previous experience in technical report writing.
- Effective organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, plan, schedule, and coordinate various activities relating to projects.
- Valid class 5 driver's license and must provide current drivers abstract when applying.
- Able to perform field work over extended periods of time locally or at remote sites. Field work will constitute approximately 60% of weekly duties, with 40% office work.
- Must be physically capable of performing manual labour duties.
- Excellent attention to detail required.
- Proficient in Canadian System of Soil Classification and 2010 Alberta Reclamation Criteria would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge in soil mapping and Western Canadian environmental regulations is an asset.
