Tetra Tech is adding a Junior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer or Technologist to our Instrumentation & Controls team based in Vancouver, BC.

The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000 per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
Your Role:
- Work as an instrumentation and controls member of a multi-discipline design team with project teams in multiple offices.
- Develop control strategies and control narratives; provide P&ID assistance to the Process Group.
- Specify instruments and final control devices.
- Prepare instrumentation and control system layout drawings and block diagrams.
- Design automation systems including PLC, HMI, DCS, and communication networks.
- Prepare network diagrams and PLC/DCS gateway interface lists.
- Perform site visits to field verify design details.
- Design PLC panels and prepare panel layouts, I/O module schematics, termination diagrams, bills of material, and cable schedules.
- Prepare hardware and software specifications.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing for major equipment.
- Work with electrical designers on electrical motor control systems including MCCs, soft starters, and VFDs.
- Contribute to electrical area classification drawings.
- Prepare instrumentation and controls construction work packages.
- Develop PLC, HMI, and communication module programs.
- Perform software simulations, acceptance testing with clients, pre-commissioning, and site commissioning of PLCs, HMIs, and networks.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- EITs: Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Controls or a related field.
- Technologists: Diploma in Automation and Instrumentation or a related field.

Experience in Consulting Engineering, Oil, Gas Refining considered an asset.
- Knowledge of computer design tools – AutoCAD, SPI Intools, 3D modelling.
- Hardware / software troubleshooting skills.
- PLC/HMI/DCS programming experience using industry standard software packages.
- SCADA system design and programming.
- Experience with Schneider / Modicon and/or Rockwell controller products.
- Experience with industrial network design and implementation including Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and Modbus.
- Format training from control system vendor or industry software tools will be considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills required for internal team interfaces and client liaison.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to new projects and quickly understand the defined scope.
- Fluency in one or more control system languages will be considered an asset.
- Project management skills.
- Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
