Tetra Tech is adding a mid- to senior-level Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to our Air Compliance team based in Farmington Hills, MI, or at other locations in Michigan, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

Position Summary:
Work closely with industrial and governmental clients to solve environmental challenges, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop sustainable strategies. Assist with development and management of a team of technical specialists and building and maintaining client relationships for company growth. Additional work may involve environmental site investigations, data management, and field services as needed.
Essential Job Functions:

• Lead the preparation and submission of air permit applications and compliance reports.
• Develop and review air emission inventories, calculations, and greenhouse gas emissions reports.
• Direct junior staff while following established standards and procedures.
• Provide oversight for regulatory and compliance reviews for industrial operations.
• Provide guidance to client facilities on regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Build long-term partnerships with clients through technical excellence and strong communication.
• Coordinate with other supervisors to optimize group workload around multiple project schedules and competing deadlines.
• Support business development by assisting in proposal preparation, strategizing attendance of conferences and industry events, and making internal and external connections to help grow our client base.
• Supervisory responsibilities include encouraging employee growth; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
• Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or environmental field.
• 8+ years of experience, at least 4 years successfully managing engineering and/or air quality projects and finances in a client-facing role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Direct experience in the air quality practice area with technical experience preparing permits and calculating emissions for complex facilities.
• Willingness to integrate into a team, and mentor and lead junior staff.
• Demonstratable organizational and time management skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with carbon accounting, renewable fuels, and/or sustainability a plus.
• Experience in the solid waste industry is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
• Regularly required to sit and work at a computer for extended periods; occasional standing and walking within the office environment.
• Occasionally required to lift/move up to 10 lbs., with infrequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
• Requires use of hands for typing, handling materials, and operating office equipment; vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May occasionally travel to field sites (approximately 10–30% of the time), which can involve walking on uneven terrain and slopes up to 2:1 or 3:1 grade.
• When in the field, must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator if required, and may need to meet medical clearance standards based on assignment.
