The Position

We are seeking an innovative and energetic Sustainability Lead to join our Sydney office as part of our Global Sustainability Group. In this role, you will report to the Australian Sustainability Lead, leading large projects, and a local team of consultants. You will also contribute to business development activities and mentor junior members of our global team.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about sustainability, technically strong, and motivated by developing sustainability solutions and engaging with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen client relationships, elevate market presence, and win new work through relationship building, networking, client presentations, and industry speaking opportunities.
  • Champion environmental and social sustainability across projects.
    Lead sustainability components of projects, applying strong technical expertise across design and construction.
  • Document sustainability initiatives and performance against rating schemes (e.g., NABERS, WELL, Green Star, LEED, BREEAM) across all project stages.
  • Provide technical leadership, QA, and verification for projects within the Global Sustainability Group.
  • Manage NDY's project involvement to deliver efficiently while meeting client needs.
  • Identify and collaborate with clients and stakeholders, ensuring expectations are managed and successfully met.
  • Represent NDY in internal and external meetings regarding client issues, proposals, new opportunities, and marketing strategies.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives in your technical areas of expertise.
  • Provide on the job training and mentorship to graduates and new staff, supporting capability development across the team.
  • Coordinate and plan commitments, resources, and workloads across active projects to meet deadlines and budgets. Monitor resourcing needs and advise the line manager or project lead on utilisation.
     


Who We're Looking For

  • A relevant tertiary qualification supported by equivalent training, accreditation, and experience. Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering, Building Science, Sustainable Development, or similar.
  • 5–8 years of professional engineering/consulting experience delivering sustainability services across the full project lifecycle.
  • Chartered Engineering status or equivalent professional recognition.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to convey complex information effectively to all stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering sustainability policy, strategies, and advisory services.
  • Evidence of diverse and creative thinking in applying expertise to sustainability or climate related challenges.
  • At least two recognised accreditations (e.g., WELL, NABERS, Green Star, BREEAM).
