The Opportunity Tetra Tech is seeking an Entry-Level Process Engineer to support water and wastewater treatment projects for municipal and utility clients across New York and surrounding regions. Position Summary

The Entry-Level Process Engineer supports the planning, evaluation, and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities under the supervision of licensed engineers. This role focuses on developing strong technical fundamentals, exposure to treatment technologies, and progressive responsibility across project phases.

 

Essential Functions

  • Support process design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including filtration, biological treatment, disinfection, residuals handling, and advanced treatment processes.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, process flow diagrams, hydraulic profiles, and design criteria.

  • Assist with equipment sizing, technical memoranda, and design reports.

  • Contribute to the development of construction drawings and specifications in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Support process modeling, treatment evaluations, and data analysis.

  • Participate in field investigations, facility assessments, and startup or testing support as needed.

  • Collaborate with project managers and discipline leads to meet project schedules and quality standards.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.

  • 0–3 years of experience in water or wastewater engineering, internships included.

  • Strong technical aptitude and interest in treatment process design.

  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to:

  • Sit, stand, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.

  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Walk on uneven terrain and navigate active construction sites safely.

 

Work Environment/Environment Factors

  • This position primarily operates in an office setting.

  • Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, or field locations may be required. 

  • Site visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction sites, and active infrastructure environments.

NY Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 dependent on experience.
