Program overview

The Kiribati Australia Infrastructure (Te KAI) Program supports high-quality, climate-resilient, and inclusive infrastructure development in Kiribati. As Construction Project Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering small to medium-scale buildings and civil projects that directly impact communities across the islands.

You will lead project planning, contract management, technical supervision, and ensure safety and quality compliance. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national development outcomes and foster resilient infrastructure systems in Kiribati.

Your Role

  • Advise on the delivery of small to medium-sized infrastructure projects.
  • Manage contracts, procurement, and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Oversee construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with donors, Ministries and local contractors.
  • Ensure infrastructure is compliant with National Building Code and is inclusive, climate resilient, and safe.
  • Contribute to reporting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

About You

You are a skilled infrastructure professional with experience in engineering project management and construction management. You bring technical expertise, leadership, and a collaborative approach to working in multicultural and the local environment.

You will possess:

  • Construction site experience, ideally around three years of experience.
  • Proven ability to manage contracts, procurement, and safety compliance in line with Australia and New Zealand standards.
  • Experience working with international donors on community projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant discipline.

The above is our wish list of requirements, if you do not meet 100% of the selection criteria, but most of it, we would encourage applicants to still apply. Acknowledging that construction is a male dominated industry, we strongly encourage female applicants to apply!
