Tetra Tech International Development Europe is Tetra Tech's European business unit focused on International Development. We also have a strong in-house Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Practice consisting of 35 evaluators, statisticians, economists, social scientists, and research managers.

Job Overview and Reporting Line:
The Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) Programme will support a more stable and peaceful Nigeria, the impact of which will be that citizens will benefit from reduced violence and increased resilience to climate change. It will achieve this by supporting Nigerian stakeholders in resolving conflict and improving security, justice, and natural resource management in target areas.
SPRiNG will support locally led enhancements to conflict prevention, violence reduction, security and justice and natural resource management; work to remove or lessen the impact of critical barriers to peace; and support partnerships for peace with like-minded international partners to multiply funding spent by the FCDO.
SPRiNG is a politically led programme and is grounded in research, evidence, and science, including political economy, conflict analysis, and environmental science to ensure that the Programme is addressing the root causes of violence. SPRiNG is problem driven, evidence based, iterative, adaptive in approach, reflective, responsive, and scalable.
SPRiNG will seek to address a complex set of interwoven political, conflict, and ecological conflict drivers impacting security across North-West and North-Central Nigeria.
This is a full-time management role leading the day-to-day security and operations of the SPRiNG programme. The SPRING programme's geographic coverage will focus on North Central and North West Nigeria, with an operational base in Abuja.
Reporting to: Global Head of Risk and Compliance, Tetra Tech International Development.
Key relationships: Programme Director, Programme Manager, Team Leader.
Direct Reports: Operations Officer, Administration Assistant.
Main Duties:
- Ensure that safety and security planning, including Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Response Plans, and safety and security directives, is operationalised and becomes part of staff's daily routine.
- Taking a lead on safety and security aspects and approvals relating to travel and journey management.
- Lead on developing suitable vendors (hotel, car hire, office equipment, etc.) across the geographic scope of the SPRING programme and conducting background/due diligence checks on them.
- Monitoring vendor SLAs and conducting supplier meetings, as required.
- Conduct reviews of hotels, hospitals, domestic airlines, taxi services and other suppliers.
- Delivering safety and security briefings annually to all team members.
- Providing support during any critical incident or crisis event.
- Maintain detailed records covering all safety and security equipment training and tests.
- Monitor guard force performance.
- Maintain the fire safety program by testing smoke detectors and fire extinguishers regularly and carrying out dire drills twice annually.
- Coordinating, delivering and tracking security-related training.
- Providing input into the program risk register.
- Prepared reports for management on safety- and security-related issues.
- Assisting Project Accountant by tracking security assets which form part of the Project Asset Register.
- Any other special duties as requested by management.
General and Security Requirements
- Adhere to all security advice from Tetra Tech's Risk Management Team.
- Adhere to Tetra Tech's behaviours and values.

- Work collaboratively with other TT programmes in Nigeria with an emphasis on shared goals and objectives.
- Travel and out-of-hours work will be required.
- Diligent oversight management of the safety, security and risk compliance status of all TTID and joint entities project teams.
- Adherence to timelines for clearances on travel requests and project events.
- Well-ordered physical security arrangements are in place around the office and residences.
- Maintenance of staff movement and site visit(s) tracker.
Aptitude and skills:
- Good knowledge of security standards and procedures.
- Possession of international security-related certifications - CPP, CFE, CSMP, and PSI - will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Kenya's criminal procedures and police operations and an in-depth understanding of Kenya's emerging security trends.
- Good Organisational skills (ability to plan and prioritise).
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- IT literacy in basic computer packages (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
- Fluency and literacy in English.
- Resilience in handling extreme security situations.
Qualifications:
- You must have a high level of reoccurring demonstrable level of experience in a government or corporate security environment.
- Past service with the military or police.
- Demonstrated ability in emergency management, planning and response.
- Proven experience conducting facility security assessments and experience working in facilities within the urban and rural set-ups.
- Demonstrated ability to be a liaison with government security agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering security training.
- Preferably past experience with international development agencies or non-governmental organisations.
