We have immediate opportunities for a Senior Renewable Energy Seller-Doer/Project Manager to support growing our energy business in the Midwestern U.S., with specific emphasis on growing our onshore wind and renewable energy siting and permitting business. This individual should maintain a network of contacts within the industry and can use our resources in the development, strategic direction, and growth of Tetra Tech's energy initiatives in the Midwest and beyond.
With decades of national experience, Tetra Tech offers a wealth of technical knowledge and a strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations. From planning and siting to operation and maintenance, Tetra Tech supports our clients in developing energy generation projects from concept to completion.
Successful candidates will have a strong technical background in siting, permitting, and evaluating environmental impacts of renewable energy projects. Experience will include onshore wind, solar, energy storage, and/or electric transmission. Our ideal candidate will have pre-existing client relationships, a proven track record of winning work within the energy markets, and applicable experience managing the permitting and compliance of wind energy projects. Solar, storage and other energy project experience a bonus.
Your Role:
The Seller-Doer/Project Manager will be expected to:
· Develop new client accounts; work with existing Tetra Tech account managers and the Energy Program market leads to expand existing client accounts.
· Prepare proposals and lead Tetra Tech teams through permitting, compliance and other associated services including county, state, and federal permit processes.
· Serve as a Project Manager for renewable energy projects that includes managing multi-disciplinary teams to complete projects on time and on budget.
· Conduct agency coordination, lead technical teams and contractors providing technical deliverables.
· Travel as applicable for client meetings and industry events.
· Support the development of complex renewable energy projects in a dynamic work environment.
· Possess strong critical thinking capabilities and a flexible approach to problem solving.
· Have demonstrated writing abilities, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office), and the ability to act independently.
Qualifications:
· Possess a bachelor's degree and preferably a graduate degree in environmental sciences, urban/regional planning, environmental policy, environmental studies, and/or related field.
· Minimum of 10+ years of experience, with more experience preferred, with project management, account management, business development, environmental assessments and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance/permitting in the U.S.
· Must have existing client relationships in the renewable energy market and a proven track record of winning new work.
· Strong working knowledge of local siting and permitting processes and trends.
· Experience in one or more of the following Midwestern states: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas.
· Strong working knowledge of state siting and permitting processes in Midwestern states, such as:
o Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC; Large Electric Power Generation Plan Site Permit, Certificate of Need)
o Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity
o North Dakota PSC (Certification of Site Compatibility and Certificate of Corridor Compatibility and Transmission Facility Route Permit)
o South Dakota PUC (Facility Permit)
o Iowa Utilities Board (Iowa Utilities Board Certification; Iowa Department of Natural Resources – PERMT system, Environmental Reviews)
· Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), as the position requires frequent and effective interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, other team members, and the public.
· Function as a team-oriented professional with a strong attention to detail, and a proven commitment to quality management and client satisfaction.
· Ability to plan and organize in a fast-paced, dynamic, client-driven working environment.
· Possess excellent research and analytical skills.
· A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
· Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
· Applicants with experience in other states outside of the Midwest (e.g., Wyoming) are also of interest and welcome to apply.
