Tetra Tech is adding a [Position Title] to our team based in [Location]. 

Your Role:

Seeking an exceptionally experienced environmental noise and blast modeling expert to lead DoD-wide programs integrating NEPA compliance, land use planning, acoustic species assessments, controlled information handling, and multi-service interagency coordination. This position requires unmatched technical expertise in military blast noise, small arms noise, aircraft operations, and complex regulatory documentation, combined with decades of federal experience supporting Department of Defense installations. This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.


•    Serve as Subject Matter Expert within Tetra Tech for blast noise modeling (BNOISE), small arms (SARNAM), aircraft noise (NoiseMap), and Advanced Acoustical Model (AAM) for DoD.
•    Author noise sections and provide technical leadership for all NEPA Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), and Installation Compatible Use Zone (ICUZ) studies.
•    Develop species-specific threatened and endangered species (TES) noise impact assessment methodologies used in ESA Section 7 consultations.
•    Conduct GIS-based land use compatibility analysis using ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcCatalog for military encroachment management and real estate coordination.
•    Provide formal training to federal agencies, contractors, and interagency workgroups on blast noise modeling, NEPA noise assessment, ICUZ development, and range sustainment policy.
•    Diagnose problems and implement solutions with noise model functionality.
•    Represent Tetra Tech at DoD technical working groups and events related to environmental noise.
•    Provide technical support for weapons-related property damage claims and legal defensibility of environmental noise modeling.
•    Coordinate with installation personnel and local communities on land use incompatibilities.

Qualifications:

•    At least 20 years of direct experience supporting military environmental noise programs for Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and National Guard installations. Additional experience with non-DoD Federal agencies preferred.
•    Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 10%.
•    Possess an active SECRET Security Clearance with eligibility for handling classified information across multiple service branches. TOP SECRET clearance preferred.
•    Current on procedures and training for handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) to include OPSEC, Privacy Act, PII protection, records management, federal cybersecurity, and federal ethics. 
•    In-depth knowledge of military weapons specifications to determine appropriate surrogates for noise modeling.
•    Working knowledge of Joint Hazard Classification System (JHCS), DODIC munitions classification codes, Range Managers Toolkit (RMTK), and DoD range sustainment policy frameworks.
•    Previous instructor or panelist experience for DoD noise or range forums preferred.
