The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Structural Engineer, PE to our Global Services Design Team based in our Marlborough, Massachusetts Office.

 At Tetra Tech, our Global Services Design Team delivers comprehensive architecture and engineering solutions for our U.S. government clients. Our work spans facility and utility planning, design, and construction services worldwide. Our key clients include the US Department of Defense as well as USAID and MCC.  Our international development projects, include design and construction support services for infrastructure, such as housing, healthcare facilities, schools, roads, and water systems.

Your Role:

  • Perform Structural Analysis: Perform structural calculations and analyses for concrete, masonry, and steel vertical structures
  • Prepare Construction Documents: Prepare detailed construction plans within a BIM environment using industry-standard software such as Revit and AutoCAD, prepare specifications, and develop design narratives
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines:  Coordinate design work with architecture, mechanical, electrical, and civil teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review and Annotate: Review construction documents, mark-ups, and incorporate feedback to produce final drawings ready for project execution
  • Engage in Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry advancements, enhancing your expertise in structural design and analysis
  • Mentorship:  Provide mentorship and oversight to junior engineering staff
  • Quality and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with Tetra Tech's quality assurance and safety standards.

Qualifications

We are seeking motivated individuals who are passionate about structural engineering and thrive in collaborative environments. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution, with a focus on structural engineering coursework
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in the design and analysis of vertical concrete, masonry, and steel structures, with a strong focus on performing structural design work in high seismic zones.  Protective design and security experience, including blast-resistant design and progressive collapse analysis, a plus
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required; licensed Structural Engineer (SE) a plus
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software such as Bentley RAM, RISA 3D, SAFE and STAAD Pro
  • Time Management: Proven ability to meet project deadlines while adhering to quality standards
  • Software Proficiency: Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to participate in short-term international travel assignments as needed
  • Driver's License: Ability to drive on an occasional basis for business purposes preferred. In order to do this, you will need a valid driver's license, pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check, and maintain a safe driving record
  • Additional Requirements: Due to the clients we serve, this position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residence Card. Must be able to pass background screening including criminal history, credit check etc. 

Additional Information:

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to geographic location, qualifications, licensures, certifications, experience, and other skills relevant to the needs of the business.
