We are currently accepting applications for the position of Transportation Engineer EIT, Highway Design and Construction to work remotely or from our Saskatoon office. You will have the opportunity to join the Northern & Pacific Transportation Group; a growing group with a strong work base of projects, both short and long term. The position will involve working on a diverse selection of transportation related projects throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and the Arctic including Design/Build, mining and resource roads, and municipal road infrastructure. You will assist in the near term and long-term success and growth of the group. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, who are self-starters, are client focused, and willing to manage small to medium sized projects.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing design and construction of transportation related projects.
  • Coordinate and work with staff and subcontractors to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Prepare technical letters and reviews, reports, quality control documents, memos and other documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain quality checks of designs, drawings, specifications, quantity calculations and tender documents.
  • Develop, track and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Assist senior project manager/engineer to engage with clients to define project scope and develop proposals, budget, and project schedule.
  • Assist senior project manager/engineer to identify and manage project risks.
  • Manage and document change control of Projects.
  • Provide support to senior team members to review project expenditure and approve payment of invoices.
  • Develop skills to become the prime interface with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with construction trades in order to manage field activities.
  • Undertake contract administration, resident engineering, and construction supervision.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders including operations, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating multi-discipline input from different groups.
  • Provide clear and concise reporting to different levels of senior management.
  • Prepare project drawings, specifications, cost estimates, operational plans, schedules and various project deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in engineering. Other professional qualifications will be considered with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 0-3 years' experience in civil engineering in Canada, specifically on transportation related projects and design/project management.
  • Effective communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Working experience in the principles and practices of transportation engineering as applied to design and construction of projects.
  • Demonstrated report writing ability with delivery of quality products.
  • Experience undertaking construction inspections and reporting.
  • Experience working with NMS, MMCD and BC MoTI Specifications is considered an asset.
  • Experience in developing project budgets and construction estimates is considered an asset.
  • Experience in writing proposals is considered an asset.

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship (a copy of a valid work permit may be required).
