The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech's Water group in Winnipeg, Manitoba is currently seeking a water process/mechanical technologist or technician.  The successful candidate will work as part of an engineering consulting team for the design, development and implementation of process and mechanical systems required for municipal facilities such as water treatment plants, pump stations, and maintenance buildings. This position is a permanent full-time role and will be based in the Winnipeg office and include work with clients throughout Canada.

Your Role:

  • Completes various process and mechanical design and drafting assignments related to piping and mechanical systems.
  • Develops and prepares engineering designs and drawings including preparation of process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, general arrangement plans, layouts and sections.
  • Operates computers-aided design (CAD) in both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D environments (Revit and Civil 3D).
  • Collaborates with process and mechanical engineers in developing complete documentation packages and design sets for water/wastewater treatment systems, pump stations and other municipal infrastructure.
  • Checks and verifies design drawings and shop drawings conform to specifications and design data.
  • May be asked to prepare contracts and tender documents.
  • May be asked to perform occasional field inspections, condition assessments, and monitoring of construction.
  • Demonstrates initiative in carrying out periodic tasks independently and judgement in determining the methods to apply to assigned tasks.
  • Uses initiative and judgement in resolving problems, obtaining and analyzing data, designing or modifying equipment components and in determining the intent of a specification or instruction.

 

Qualifications:

  • Architectural/Engineering Technologist or CAD Technician Diploma from a recognized institution
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite including Word and Excel.
  • No industry experience is required for this position but would be preferred. Experience working in the consulting field with practice in design, drafting and 3D CAD would be an asset.
  • This position requires time management capabilities.
  • Demonstration of technical, analytical, and organizational skills accompanied by strong oral and written communication.
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Full Class 5 driver's license.
