Description

Not only are you a first-class physician, but you also have the desire to train and inspire rheumatology residency and other healthcare professionals to achieve high-quality patient outcomes. Working in the Division of Rheumatology, you can combine clinical practice and your teaching skills to educate and shape the next generation of Rheumatology residents, and medical students in the Department of Medicine.

As the clinical leader and educator, you'll be responsible for clinical, academic, QA, patient safety, and risk management as you provide direct inpatient and outpatient care to patients suffering from rheumatology-related medical conditions, including musculoskeletal, autoimmune, and inflammatory diseases. You must be academically- focused with excellent clinical skills and the ability to conduct research/study symptoms to determine the cause and find better treatments to help patients fight and overcome these disabling diseases. Primary responsibilities:

  • Teach, evaluate, supervise, and mentor residents in the Medicine program and other rotating residents
  • Provide care for patients with rheumatology related medical conditions in the Hospital's Ambulatory sites, the Physician Pavilion and the inpatient service and be available for after-hours calls based on a schedule
  • Manage administrative duties, including EMR documentation, timely billing for reimbursement, analysis of quality data and reports, attending meetings and serving on various committees
  • Provide recommendations for treatments and advice on further examinations
  • Participate in Graduate Medical Education (GME) studies and assist in educational programs for medical students conducted by the Department of Medicine

The successful physician must have the following qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited university
  • Board-certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine
  • NYS Medical License, BCLS certification and minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience
  • Clinical and teaching experience in an inpatient healthcare setting, including experience in both large academic medical center and community hospital environments, is highly preferred
  • Credentialed or eligible to be credentialed in the Medicaid Program in New York
  • Strong familiarity with competency-based curriculum for residency training
  • Solid work ethic and a desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven organization
  • Must maintain active privileges at The Brooklyn Hospital Center
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
