  • Position requires a Registered Nurse.
  • Specialty: CVICU
  • Job involves caring for critically ill patients with prior heart conditions experiencing complex needs and actual or potential life-threatening conditions, invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
  • The age population served is adult and geriatric.
    Job Requirements
  • Current CVICU experience required.
  • CRRT, Impella and IABP experience required.
  • Minimum of one to two years of critical care experience.
  • RNs required to titrate drips.
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Dopamine, Levophed, Vaso, Dobutamine, Argatroban, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Lasix.
    Schedule Information
  • Shifts are 6:45 am - 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm to 7:15 am.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other.
  • Holiday Requirement: Rotational.
  • No call or standby requirement.
  • Floating Requirements: Required to float to ICU and, if not needed in ICU, to Stepdown.
    Unit Specific Information
  • RT Equipment: BiPap, Cpap, Mechanical ventilation via Trach and ET tube, telemetry, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, specialty beds.
  • Is there tele on this unit? Yes.
  • No Monitor Techs, RNs read strips.
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code details provided.
  • Department specific orientation includes hospital orientation, nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor.
    Additional Details
  • # of beds: 2 in PACU for initial opening of CVICU before transitioning to the ICU with a 16 bed count.
  • Ratios: 1:1 for initial phase, then 1:2 or sometimes 1:3 in the ICU depending on patient needs.
  • Charge Nurse primarily without patients/House Supervisor available 24/7.
  • No nurse aids on unit.
  • Hospitalist available 24/7, Intensivist not always in house.
  • RT not stationed in ICU but are readily available as needed.
