- Job involves caring for critically ill patients with prior heart conditions experiencing complex needs and actual or potential life-threatening conditions, invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring.

- Job Requirements
- Current CVICU experience required.
- CRRT, Impella and IABP experience required.
- Minimum of one to two years of critical care experience.
- RNs required to titrate drips.
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Dopamine, Levophed, Vaso, Dobutamine, Argatroban, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Lasix.
- Schedule Information
- Shifts are 6:45 am - 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm to 7:15 am.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other.
- Holiday Requirement: Rotational.
- No call or standby requirement.
- Floating Requirements: Required to float to ICU and, if not needed in ICU, to Stepdown.
- Unit Specific Information
- RT Equipment: BiPap, Cpap, Mechanical ventilation via Trach and ET tube, telemetry, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, specialty beds.
- Is there tele on this unit? Yes.
- No Monitor Techs, RNs read strips.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code details provided.
- Department specific orientation includes hospital orientation, nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor.
- Additional Details
- # of beds: 2 in PACU for initial opening of CVICU before transitioning to the ICU with a 16 bed count.
- Ratios: 1:1 for initial phase, then 1:2 or sometimes 1:3 in the ICU depending on patient needs.
- Charge Nurse primarily without patients/House Supervisor available 24/7.
- No nurse aids on unit.
- Hospitalist available 24/7, Intensivist not always in house.
- RT not stationed in ICU but are readily available as needed.
