Schedule: Five 8 hour shifts (full time), 3pm-11:30pm including a rotation for weekends and holidays.
Pay range: $34.00-44.00, based on experience. There is a 5% differential for evenings and a 5% differential for weekends (making it a total of 10% differential on weekends).

Main Function: As a Medical Technologist, you will independently perform a wide range of routine to complex medical laboratory tests across various disciplines, including histology, hematology, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, chemistry, and coagulation. Your expertise will be crucial in providing data for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention, all while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care.
Required Job Specific Competencies:
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills for the operation of instrumentation and processing of specimens by both automated and manual methods.
- Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and quality control issues.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all lab teams and medical staff.
- Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating and troubleshooting state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation.
- Performing and interpreting quality control, evaluating reagent quality, and correlating patient results.
- Prioritizing STAT/ASAP testing and ensuring timely processing of specimens.
- Maintaining competency across all testing processes and adhering to strict confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- NYS Medical Technologist license required (as of 9/2006, or "grandfathered" status).
- Education:
- B.S. in Medical Technology, OR
- B.S. in chemical, biological, or physical science with at least one year of pertinent lab experience, OR
- 90 semester hours in an accredited college meeting NYS MT specific criteria with at least 1 year of exp. or training covering several fields of medical lab work.
- MT ASCP certification is preferred.
- Experience as a Medical Technologist is preferred but not required.
Pay Range: $34.00-44.00
