Schedule: Full time

Main Function: 

  • Responsible for all areas of practice management for Thompson Health outpatients practices. This includes Thompson Family Practices, Occupational Medicine (HealthWorks) and Thompson Urgent Care. Areas of responsibility are dynamic and will change over time.
  • The Director of Practice Management is responsible for budgeting, fiscal goals and performance, personnel management, compliance, and daily operations. Leadership in strategic business development of Thompson Health outpatient clinics is expected.
  • Involvement and leadership in process improvement and quality assurance activities both at the practices and within the Health System is also a core expectation of this position. Supervises practice management and Health Works/Urgent Care staff and office personnel to ensure basic operations and strategic goals are met.
  • Administratively responsible for all staff working in the departments including physicians.
  • Works with the Medical Directors, in the management of clinical performance issues.
  • Coordinates and directs the integration of the medical practices with all system departments. The Director continuously evaluates and executes improvement in business strategies, quality and process.

 

Job Specific Competencies: 

  • Demonstrates skill in personnel management of a wide range of Associates, including office staff, physicians and mid-level providers.
  • Competent in statistical analysis necessary to support operational and strategic need of the practices.
  • Knowledgeable in compliance and regulatory requirements, insurance regulations, coding and billing.
  • Skills in marketing and interpersonal relations.
  • Exhibits a patient-centered approach to routine and strategic business operations in a fiscally responsible and sustainable manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with physicians, staff and administration.
  • Exhibits leadership skills through daily actions. Able to provide leadership in the presence of complicated, controversial issues.
  • Responsible for budget preparation and fiscal performance. Able to skillfully manage people and projects with competing priorities.
  • Ensures Joint Commission, Medicare/Medicaid DOH and other regulatory agency compliance.
  • Knowledge, training and experience in process improvement projects.
  • Facile in use of business software with strong aptitude for quickly learning productive use of new software and training others, including physicians.
  • Requires excellent skills in data management, including skill in collecting, analyzing, compiling and distributing data in a usable fashion.
  • Must have strong negotiation skills.
  • Able to supervise staff at varying employment grades and job status.
  • All physician evaluations are completed by the Director with clinical input from physicians, the Medical Director.
  • Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the Health System.

Qualifications: 

  • Mature, energetic, and creative individual demonstrating leadership qualities in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. Possesses expertise in wellness with knowledge base in management theory and practice. A willingness to learn, to take risks and to pursue excellence is required.
  • Previous demonstrated success in managing daily operations, budgetary and personnel responsibilities is preferred.

Education and experience: 

  • Required – Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • Required – Experience in practice management, marketing and customer service in a high-expectation environment. Minimum 1 year experience in practice management.
  • Preferred – MBA, MSPH, MHA or similar degree. Formal training and certification in process improvement disciplines such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Preferred – 3+ years experience in practice management, customer service, and health care marketing.

 

Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000/salary 

Starting Pay: Based on experience
